Waiting

Days after Christmas I noticed a bump on Freedom’s leg.
It was hard and nubby like bone. I waited a week and
then another to see if there would be a change...
and there was. Her arm began to swell and become more
lump like. She was scheduled for a biopsy but I couldn’t wait any longer so I ushered her in for x-rays. Hopefully this would rule out my dreadful thinking. They could tell me, Oh, this is arthritis and no biop necessary. Turns out, not to be the case. The thoughts became reality right before my eyes - right under the lights of the glaring x-ray. It’s a tumor. The nature of this mass is yet to be determined. Freedom had her biopsy on Friday and now we wait. I hope anyone who stops by 2DogStudio today sends well wishes to her and we find out that the results did not warrant such thinking and she will be just fine. Thank you readers!

Isaiah 40:31

"But they that wait upon the LORD
shall renew their strength;
they shall mount up with wings as EAGLES
they shall run, and not be weary;
and they shall walk, and not faint"

When's Dinner?

Hey Ma! When's dinner? Freedom and I are hungry!!!

Happy Birthday!!

Freedom and Glory had Birthday's a month apart.
We celebrated them together. Freedom is 7, Glory 5.
They tolerated the camera once more but they were not happy.

Got Dirt?

Not the most flattering photo but reminds me of
the Got Milk campaign of models with their milk mustaches.
Mine just happens to be on a dog and it's dirt!

DOG JOY

Oh the long awaited news!
Earlier this year I submitted two photographs
of Freedom and Glory to BARK Magazine for
the smiling dog contest. Take 1, Glory was acting
up and being a ham bone. I retook the photo with
them cooperating and yes, smiling and submitted
both photos. I thought Take 1 was so funny, even
though Take 2 was the one I was hoping would win!

Then editor wrote back:
I am so happy to announce that the photo you
submitted to Bark's Smiling Dog (or Cover Dog)
contest is under consideration for placement
in our book, DogJoy: The Happiest Dogs in the
Universe, to be published by Rodale in October 2009.
As the editor of the book and the magazine,
I have the double pleasure of not only selecting
the photos for this project but also in delivering
the good news to you. Although it is still up to
the publisher to make the final decisions,
I am hopeful that yours will be included.
If your dog's photo appears in the book,
it will be in a chapter called THE JOKERS.
For your participation, you will receive a copy of
the hardcover book, and a three-year subscription
(or renewal) to Bark.

Then months later I received this email!
We have good news for you. FREEDOM AND GLORY
made it into the final design of DogJoy,
in the chapter called JOKERS.
The design process (and its back and forth
with the publisher) took longer than we had hoped,
so sorry about this late notice. But we hope you
are has happy as we are that we could
include your smiler.

DogJoy is due out in mid October,
let's hope it is a huge success!
Thank you so much for being a part
of this wonderful project.

Best wishes,
Claudia Kawczynska
Editor in chief
The Bark

You can imagine my excitement!!!
And, Take 1 was the one they picked!
While they did not make the cover, I had my copy
personalized with their chosen photograph.

DOG JOY The Happiest Dogs in the Universe can
now be order here.

I hope you will check it out!

Oh Happy Day! Oh Dog Joy!

R.I.P. Mr. B.

This is Bailey, aka Mr. B. He is a Chesapeake Retriever
commissioned by his DogGrand Annette. Unfortunately, he crossed
the Rainbow Bridge before coming to life on my canvas.
There are two paintings posted, as I was so saddened by
his unexpected passing that I also painted one for his DogMom.
Rest in peace Bailey. You are missed!

Caught this beauty on my way home from work.
Sun coming down from it's day of work.
